I think it's time for a new post, and a push in a different direction. Previously, I had been writing a little about photography. This time, I'll start focusing a bit on technology and programming.
I've spent a large part of my college life in search of a good project to spend my time on. There have been many projects I have started, but most of them just fizzled out. I don't think my problem is committing to a long-term goal. Yes, sometimes I do lose inspiration and go back to playing computer games. However, I find that the root of my project abandonment is typically the realization that my project will not make a difference or stand out. I start to feel like I'm reinventing the wheel, so to speak, and that my time could be better used on something else. This is when I usually go back to playing Team Fortress 2.
Before I continue, I should probably elaborate on what sort of projects I work on.

Today was pretty exciting for me. I got some new lenses and photo equipment shipped to my house, and it all seems to work great. I went outside to take some test shots, which ended up being mostly flowers from my grandmother's garden. Hopefully I can get some more scenic shots later on.
As far as equipment goes, my camera is a Canon EOS Rebel XT 8MP digital SLR, and along with the kit lens (which is the EF-S f3.5/5.6 18-55mm), I just bought the EFII f1.8 50mm lens (cheap but fast) and the EF-S f4-5.6 17-85mm USM with stabilizer, which is awesome. [edit: Check out Today's Album now, because apparently I decided to write a research paper on image file formats below. They aren't the best photos, but they're the most recent]

Right now, this site seems a bit dark and lonely, but I hope that will change. I've had the bitstomp.com domain for almost two years now, but I've never really done anything with it. I've always planned on making it a sort of portal to my eccentric world, but I never had much of a reason to do so after Facebook took over social networking. I imagine I would get more attention if I added content to Facebook instead of BitStomp, but I enjoy working on something unique. That and Facebook's photo album feature badly degrades image quality. Which brings me to my next point... |
